Volunteer Position: Mornings With Friends Coordinator

Program’s mission: To ensure that older residents of Cumberland can remain independent and living in their own homes as long as possible.

Specific tasks volunteer(s) will perform: Plan and schedule speakers and events for monthly Mornings with Friends gathering. Coordinate with churches for meeting setup (need for a/v equipment, etc.). Work with Cumberland Recreation Department to avoid duplication of events. Coordinate with AIP Communications Committee to publicize events. Notify town hall to put up signs the Friday before events.

Qualities, experience, and skills needed by volunteers: Computer and communications skills, organizational skills, team player.

Location where volunteer(s) will work: This job can be done at town hall or from home or anywhere with access to a phone and the Internet.

When will volunteer(s) work? Volunteer can set own schedule; events scheduled monthly.

Length of commitment expected of volunteer: 1 year period.

Benefits or considerations offered volunteer. Satisfaction of helping Cumberland’s older residents make friends and socialize with other town residents through participation in the Aging in Place programs.

Location, time, date of volunteer training/orientation: As soon as possible at the convenience of volunteer and Health & Socialization Committee.

How long will it take? 1 hour and additional one-on-one training if necessary

Who will be responsible for volunteer time sheets? Volunteer coordinator
