The Alzheimer’s Association’s Family and Caregiver Support Groups are designed to provide emotional, educational, and social support for caregivers through regularly scheduled meetings.

Savvy Caregiver is a proven educational program for families and friends caring for someone with dementia who lives in the community. Classes meet 2 hours a week for 6 weeks. Savvy Caregiver is offered at SMAA and throughout the State of Maine.
The Savvy Caregiver 12-hour training for family caregivers of people with dementia provides:
Knowledge – Learn what dementia is and how it affects personality and behavior.
Skills – Communicate more effectively with the person you are caring for, making each day better for you both.
Attitudes – Learn how to take care of yourself to reduce stress.
