Duties: Visit an elderly resident in his/her home on a regular basis, provide companionship and friendship. Each volunteer will be matched with a senior resident who wants a visitor. Transport only for social activities. No medical, personal care, or housekeeping tasks involved. Refer to other services if needed.

Qualities, experience, and skills needed by volunteers: Compassion, patience, reliability, good listening skills; familiarity with older people a plus. Ability to pass background check. Three references.

Location where volunteer(s) will work: At resident’s home.

When will volunteer(s) work? Schedule and activities will be determined by the volunteer and the senior, with oversight and advice from the Friendly Visitor coordinator.

Length of commitment expected of volunteer: 1 year period.
