  2. Old Business:
  3. Review discussion of mission & programs from January meeting with Patricia Oh.
We discussed the draft of the Mission Statement from the January meeting. Our goal is to clarify the wording to best represent the wishes of the committee. The statement will be rewritten using the suggestions made and presented at the next meeting for review.
  4. Update from the subcommittees.
Some of the subcommittees have lost members and are without leaders. The question was raised as to the functions of the sub-committees. Should there be a leadership committee that will meet with the leaders of the sub-committees and report to the full committee. It was determined that communications can be handled by using Sue Gold and Eliza Porter to get the information out using a variety of methods. The goal is to increase awareness of all the programs that the committee has available to the senior citizens in the community. There are great programs that are not being used.
  5. New Business:
  6. Councilor Update:
Peter Bingham reported that the council is currently working on the budget and information will be coming soon on the details of the property tax relief program. Peter also stated that information is coming soon regarding senior housing in Cumberland. The homestead exemption maybe going up from $15,000 to $20,000. It still needs to be approved at the state level.
  7. Outreach/Senior Education opportunities:
    Mary Ellen Wilson
had information from The Cedars about programs they will present that maybe helpful to our seniors. These may be topics that are of interest to be used at the Tea & Talks.
  8. Forum: ideas for future events.
Some suggestions for events that may be of interest include, pot luck luncheons or a senior prom.
  9. The CAR program is planning to have a luncheon for their volunteer drivers that will be held at the church.

Meeting adjourned at: 6:34pm
