The date needs to be changed to November 4, 2017 to accommodate the Cross Country championship with will need to use the parking lot. This is pending the availability of the school.
- Councilor Update:
- Senior Property Tax Relief:
The council has approved a Senior Tax Relief program for residents 70 years or older and have a homestead for 10 or more years. The income limit is $80,000. There have been over 100 residents apply. Meeting will be held on August 14, 2017 to August 17, 2017. The checks are expended to be sent out in time for the tax payments.
- Affordable Senior Housing Overlay:
The town council will be meeting on August 14, 2017 to request to expand the overlay district.
- Discussion of AIP Role under the Recreation Department
Next year will fall under the Recreation Department and North Yarmouth will be part of AIP. Maybe AIP can have input in the senior programs offered by the Recreation Department. How would the CAR program be affected? We would like better Co-ordination with the Recreation Department on programming. We want to keep the voice of the seniors. Can we get someone from the Recreation Department to attend our meetings?
- Open Discussion
The question was asked that if the signs are taken down to be refreshed, is there a target date for them to go back up?
- Old Business:
- Handy man Program:
Terry Maloney-Kelly has been tracking the calls and matching requests to the volunteers willing to do the job. She is doing an excellent job!
- CARS Program:
The program is still getting requests for rides. May have one more volunteer for driving, which will be very helpful.
- Computer Class
- Flower Program:
There are 50 pots of flowers donated by the Foreside Garden Club to hand out as we need.
- Vendor Guide:
This is a work in progress and still needs some development.
- Update on AARP Challenge Grant:
MaryEllen Wilson and Karen Campbell worked on this Challenge Grant, which we did not get. It was a National Grant with application from all states. There was only $500,000 to go to all the states. Cumberland is hurt because of the median income of the town. We will apply again.
